Trickett announced her retirement after last years World championships in Rome amidst the swim suit controversy which had engulfed the sport.

AOC, August 21:The Australian swim team has saved the best ‘til last claiming five medals, including a gold to Victoria's Emily Selig, on the final day of competition at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

Selig continued Australia's breaststroke dominance, charging home for gold in the 200m event in a time of 2 minutes 27.78 seconds -  making her the 10th fastest Australian.

The golden girls accounted for Australia's three gold medals as swimming returned to swimming after the sinking of the suits following last year's World Championship fiasco in Rome.

emma 4x100 medley relay heat 1photo youtholympicgames.org.jpgAOC, August 18: Australian swimmers have repeated their solid efforts from the opening two nights clinching a silver medal through Emma McKeon in the 100m freestyle and pushing several others through to finals. 

McKeon took silver in a personal best time of 55.37 seconds, behind China's Tang Yi who won the gold in a lightning-quick time of 54.46 secs which would have won the Australian Open Championship this year - ranking her 10th in the world for 2010.

The race was the first of its kind for Olympics swimming, with men and women competing against each other in the same event.
