CURRUMBIN AND NORTH BURLEIGH PUMPED FOR 'ADAM NEVILLE MEMORIAL' AFL FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY
currumbin vikings slsc 1logo.jpgSeptember 2: The Surf Life Saving season "unofficially" kicks off tomorrow night (Friday, September 3) with the annual Adam Neville Memorial AFL showdown between the Currumbin Vikings and North Burleigh Surf Clubs.

The event now in its eighth year is played in memory of Adam Neville, one of Australia's most respected young surf lifesavers who died suddenly in October 2001 aged 24.

KELLOGG'S NUTRI-GRAIN IRONMAN TRIALISTS LINE UP AT TUGUN
kng series 2009.jpgAugust 20: Australia's budding Ironmen and Ironwomen will converge on the Gold Coast next month vying for at least 16 positions in the 2010-11 Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series.

Surf Life Saving Australia will host the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Trial at Tugun Beach on September 18 and 19.

JACOB LOLLBACK MEMORIAL BOARD RACE DAY
jacob lollback captain international challenge 1photo harvie allison.jpgSURF SPORTS, August 19: The who's who of Australian board paddlers, Ironmen and Ironwomen are expected to converge on the NSW North Coast resort town of Yamba on Saturday September 25 to honour the memory of the late Jacob Lollback, one of Australia's finest young surf lifesavers.

Lollback, a former National champion and Australian representative lost his life in a diving accident off the coast of Gladstone last year.

AUSTRALIAN SURF LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS DATES EXTENDED FOR 2011

surf life saving australia 2.jpgAugust 16: Surf Life Saving Australia today announced that dates for the 2011 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will be extended.  The event will run from Saturday 2 to Sunday 10 April at Kurrawa on the Gold Coast.

CURRUMBIN VIKINGS NAME TWO NEW LIFE MEMBERS

The pair were formally inducted into the Vikings "Life Membership Club" at Currumbin's Annual General Meeting last Sunday.

GLENELG BEACH SECURES ANOTHER MAJOR SURF LIFE SAVING SPORTING EVENT

surf life saving australia 2.jpgJune 25: Adelaide's Glenelg Beach has been named the host venue for Surf Life Saving's 2011 Australian Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Championships, which will be held from 29-31 July.

The Australian IRB Championships is one of the major events on Surf Life Saving's sporting calendar attracting more than 500 of the best surf lifesavers from around the country.

ECKSTEIN TO LEAD AUSSIES ASSUALT INTO EGYPT
shannon eckstein australian captain 1photo slsa .jpgJune 21: Ironman champion Shannon Eckstein has been named captain of the 12-strong Australian Lifesaving Team that will head to Egypt in October to defend Australia's number one ranking at the World Life Saving Championships (Rescue 2010).

Eckstein will be joined by defending World Ironwoman Champion Naomi Flood, defending world inter-club surf race champion Chris Allum and two-time Australian Ironwoman Champion and 2006 world surf race champion Kristyl Smith.

NORTHCLIFFE TAKES OUT AUSTRALIAN POOL RESCUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

kristyl smith.jpgJune 7: Melbourne - Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club has taken out the 2010 Australian Pool Rescue Championships following an action packed final day of competition at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Outstanding performances from Dev Lahey and Kristyl Smith led the Gold Coast club to the overall title, with Cronulla and Maroochydore rounding out the top three. Lahey and Smith each took home six medals over the two days of competition.

HIGHLY CHARGED WIN FOR WILLIAMSTOWN AT THE 2010 AUSTRALIAN IRB CHAMPIONSHIPS
williamstown wins 2010 australian irb champs at penguin tasmania 1photoslsa.jpgApril 18: Queensland and New South Wales' stranglehold on IRB racing has come to holt after the impressive performances from Victoria's Williamstown surf club saw them crowned 2010 Australian IRB Champions.

Heading into today's finals there was certainly a buzz on the beach that this could be the year Williamstown tops the medal tally. Not only did they win, but they managed to pick up five of the nine gold medals on offer as well as take a silver and bronze.
