CURRUMBIN AND NORTH BURLEIGH PUMPED FOR 'ADAM NEVILLE MEMORIAL' AFL FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTY Surf Sports currumbin vikings slsc 1logo.jpgSeptember 2: The Surf Life Saving season "unofficially" kicks off tomorrow night (Friday, September 3) with the annual Adam Neville Memorial AFL showdown between the Currumbin Vikings and North Burleigh Surf Clubs.

The event now in its eighth year is played in memory of Adam Neville, one of Australia's most respected young surf lifesavers who died suddenly in October 2001 aged 24.

Trickett announced her retirement after last years World championships in Rome amidst the swim suit controversy which had engulfed the sport.

EMILY SELIG'S YOUTH OLYMPIC GOLD IN 200M BREASTSTROKE Swimming AOC, August 21:The Australian swim team has saved the best ‘til last claiming five medals, including a gold to Victoria's Emily Selig, on the final day of competition at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

Selig continued Australia's breaststroke dominance, charging home for gold in the 200m event in a time of 2 minutes 27.78 seconds -  making her the 10th fastest Australian.

Surf Life Saving Australia will host the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series Trial at Tugun Beach on September 18 and 19.

Lollback, a former National champion and Australian representative lost his life in a diving accident off the coast of Gladstone last year.

GIRLS GIVE AUSSIES GOLDEN START AT PAN PACS Swimming

The golden girls accounted for Australia's three gold medals as swimming returned to swimming after the sinking of the suits following last year's World Championship fiasco in Rome.
