Emma McKeon wins 200 free in Tokyo

Swimming Australia, May 19, 2015Commonwealth Games golden girl Emma McKeon has blitzed the field to win the 200m freestyle on the opening night of the Japan Open swim meet in Tokyo tonight.

The 20-year-old from Brisbane clocked 1:56.79 - a top eight time in the world  this year at the Tatsumi International Pool.
 
The winner of four gold medals in Glasgow led from start to finish in an another impressive performance as she prepares for this year's Fina World Championships in Kazan, Russia in July.
 
Fellow Australian Amy Matsuo from Sydney finished fourth in 1:59.43.
 
There were further medals for Victorian Jessica Hansen who won silver in the 100m breaststroke in a time of 1:07.53 - just 0.01 outside her personal best swum in the heat, only hours before.
 
Georgia Bohl was seventh in 1:07.98.
 
Emma McKeon's older brother David took bronze in the men's 200m freestyle in 1:47.94.
 
In a solid showing his teammates Kurt Herzog (1:48.45) and Regan Leong (1:48.83) were fourth and fifth respectively in a hotly contested final.
