The dual Olympian will be chasing titles number 11 and 12 at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre tonight when she swims from lane four in both the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle finals.

Backstroke challengers will come from either side in fellow Olympian Madi Wilson and world junior record holder and training partner Minna Atherton and from Rio relay golden girls Brittany Elmslie and Bronte Campbell in the 50m freestyle.

TSS Aquatics’ Rio Olympic relay bronze medallist Morgan, the defending champion was a clear cut winner in the men’s 50m butterfly timed final in 22.57 from Cameron Jones (SPW) and Tommaso D’Orsogna (Somerset) who dead-heated for silver in 23.29.

Patterson, one of Australia’s golden girls from the Rio Paralympics continued her domination of the 400m freestyle – her gold medal event – setting a new short course world mark in her S8 category of 4:42.98.

She took a whopping 3.58seconds off the previous world’s best of 4:46.56, set by her British hero, Paralympic legend Jessica Long back in 2009.

It comes hot on the heals of her Rio world record of 4:40.33 (by 0.11) when she powered to the wall seven seconds ahead of Long, the previous world record holder, who took silver.

There were also encouraging signs for Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers who has returned to the pool today to qualify sixth fastest for tonight’s 200m freestyle final after missing last night’s 100m freestyle final with Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT).

He will be one of five Rio Olympians, who have qualified for an all-star final, including last night’s 100m winner Cam McEvoy who set a new Australian All-Comers record of 46.19.
