YOUTH TEAMS NAMED

hmg logo.jpgMelbourne, September 24: Swimming Australia has today named its two major youth teams for 2009 following a successful five-day Telstra Australian Short Course Championships in Melbourne.

Twenty-nine swimmers will represent the Telstra Dolphins at the 2009 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Guam (January 8-12) while a 30-member team has been named for the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival (January 15-18).

Pro-Ma Miami's Ellen Fullerton, one of the stars of the 2007 Australian Youth Olympics, who won three gold medals in Melbourne will be joined on the girl's team by fellow Short Course gold medallists Blair Evans (City of Perth, WA), Grace Loh (Carey Aquatic Tritons, VIC) and Amy Smith (St Peters Western, QLD).

The boys team sees 14-year-old rising star Jayden Hadler, the youngest on the 18 years and under team,  alongside 2007 Youth Olympic graduates Ryan Napoleon, Christopher Ashwood and Daniel Smith.

The 2009 Youth Olympic Team sees Christopher Ashwood's sister Jessica joined by Olympic bronze medallist Cate Campbell's sister Bronte and one of the stars of the Australian Age Championships Kenneth To.
