AUSTRALIAN FLIPPERS WIN A TOTAL 55 MEDALS AT YOUTH OLYMPIC FESTIVAL

4x100 medley relay 1st darthea clydsdale caitlin sinclair megan mackay leiston picket photo hmg.jpgSydney, January 18: The Australian Flippers have completed their competition at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival winning a further 19 medals - eight of them gold to wrap up the final day competition at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. The four-day meet saw the gold and green Youth teams win a total of 55 medals - 19 gold; 17 silver and 19 bronze medals. Brooke Hanson  reports...on an unique experience

Australia Gold were the top medal winning team with a total of 31 (11 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze) with Australia Green second with 24 (eight gold, seven silver, nine bronze), followed by Canada 23 medals (seven gold, nine silver and seven bronze), Japan with 16 medals (six gold, six silver and four bronze), China 1 medal (silver) and New Zealand one medal (bronze)

Australia's individual gold medallists at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival were Kenneth To three gold; Katie Goldman two gold; Luke Kerswell two gold; Kelly Marquenie, Jessica Legge, Justin James, Leiston Pickett, Phillip Butcher and Bronte Campbell one each.
