LIBBY TRICKETT CLOCKS SECOND AND THIRD FASTEST TIMES IN HISTORY FOR 100M FREESTYLE

libby with medal photo patrick kraemer magicpbk.jpgAIS, Canberra, May 9:Libby Trickett has swum the second and third fastest times in history for 100m freestyle on night one of the 2009 Japan v Australia Duel In The Pool at the AIS in Canberra (May 9, 2009)

Trickett clocked 52.89 - just 0.01 seconds outside her own world record of 52.88 to lead off the "Mixed Relay" against the men and less than two hours later she stopped the clock in another sub 53 seconds time of 52.95 to win the individual 100 metres event.

The 24-year-old remains the only swimmer in the world to swim under 53 seconds for the blue ribband event.

To round off an amazing evening, Trickett anchored the Australian 4x100m freestyle relay, stopping the clock again in a sub-53 second time of 52.95.
