Victoria's Bennett, who made her debut at last year's Junior Pan Pacs in Guam, dominated the women's event, taking the gold medal by almost three minutes from team mate Brooke Wilson from WA.

Bennett, from the Nunawading club, clocked a time of 1:00.22, from Wilson (1:03.15) and Hawaii's Jamine Mau (1:08.20) third.

The men's event produced a stroke-for-stroke battle royal with NSW's Killey out-touching fellow Australian, Queensland's Code Grimsey (younger brother of FINA World Championship silver medallist Trent) open water venue photo oceania swimming.jpgand New Zealand's Phillip Ryan.

Just five seconds separated the top three with Killey touching in 58 minutes 13 seconds, Grimsey 58.15 and Ryan 58.18.

Twenty competitors finished the course with New Caledonia, new FINA affiliated member Tonga, Palau and Samoa also represented. Ian Hanson - the official Oceania correspondent for the FINA Aquatics Magazine.
