NEW PARADISE 7S TO KICK START GOLD COAST FESTIVAL OF RUGBY
Rugby Gold Coast, October 7: Rugby Gold Coast has today announced a bigger, better and re-vamped international Rugby 7s tournament that will kick off on the Gold Coast next month – the Hyperion Paradise 7s.
For the past two years Rugby Gold Coast has hosted a major international 7s tournament that has laid the foundations for the Gold Coast to become the home of Rugby 7s in Australia.
This year on Saturday and Sunday November 19 and 20, 2011 a new venue – the Carrara Sports Complex will play host to some of the most exciting Rugby 7s teams in the world.
The two-day Hyperion Paradise 7s tournament featuring top class international men's and women's teams and Gold Coast teams will launch an exciting 8-day Festival of Rugby that will include Veterans 10s, culminating in the "Gold Coast Sevens - Fever Pitch tournament - the first leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series at Skilled Park on November 25 and 26".

The Olympics newest and most exciting addition to the 2016 Olympic program for Rio de Janeiro will be alive and kicking over two action-packed days of non-stop Rugby 7s action.
Newly appointed General Manager Commercial for Rugby Gold Coast, Tim Heath said today that Gold Coast International Sevens, Rugby Gold Coast and its partners saw the opportunity to rebrand and renew their prestigious competition – kicking on from the immense success of 2009 and 2010.
In 2009 it was the Fijians, Samoans and Tongans who thrilled the crowds with their exciting brand of 7s football and last year the New Zealand teams added another level to a tougher brand of football.
“Our focus for 2011 is on improving an already successful Seven’s event,” Mr Heath said.
““We’ve had unprecedented interest from all corners of the globe. Crowds love the competition, love the entertainment, and love the Gold Coast – and the addition of the IRB Sevens during the festival has simply added to the ‘Sizzle’.
“Indeed the ongoing success of the Hyperion Paradise 7s has been the international appeal of the competition - and 2011 will be no different – with teams already entered from South Africa, New Zealand, Samoa, Fiji, PNG and China.

“We have increased the divisions of competition for the Men’s, and added a much anticipated “South East Challenge Cup” for local Queensland Clubs and Northern Rivers, NSW teams.
“Add to that a stage for Women’s 7s and a local schools element, and we’re providing the most unique Sevens experience for participants and spectators alike.”
On the new name, Mr Heath said: “It just made corporate sense to change the name to reflect the new competition, with that a new logo, new website at http://paradise7s.com.au , and a new social media platform to interact with our fans.
“It’s a testament to Hyperion Asset Management and Events Queensland to continue supporting and improving this already successful formula of Gold Coast 7s Rugby.”
Event Organisers are also excited by 2011’s new venue - the state-of-the-art Gold Coast Council facility at Carrara Sports Complex – the perfect location to host a growing event.
