AOCRA, February 3, 2012: Mooloolaba’s success at the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association World Sprint Qualifiers and Oamps National Championship meet continued this afternoon with the club’s emerging stars chiming in for double victories at Kawana Waters.

Earlier in the day it was the Mooloolaba mums who stole the show when Amanda Ozolins, one of Australia’s most celebrated outrigger paddlers and a mother of two, took line honours in the World Sprint Open VI Women’s 500m final ahead of fellow Mooloolaba mums Lea Curtis and Natalie Flynn.

But hot on the heels of their victories in the V1 World Qualifiers earlier in the day Rebecca Rasmussen and Mitchell Olds added victories in the under 19s, 500m V1 National Championships.

In  the boys final it was Olds (2:23,70) who spearheaded an all-Mooloolaba finish to  beat Nicholas Wendt (2:28.20) and Te Otimi Patara (2:30.20) while in the Under 19 women’s it was Rasmussen who held on to win the gold in a blanket finish in 2:50.20 from her Mooloolaba club mate Jen Davis (2:50.90) with BRD’s Maddison Cooper third (3:00.40).
