RESCUE 2012, Adelaide, November 17, 2012:The cream of Australia and New Zealand’s Olympic kayakers will be on show in Adelaide today for the finals of the men’s and women’s World Championship single ski finals at Adelaide’s Christies Beach today.

The men’s final will be headed by London 2012 K4 gold medal-winning captain Tate Smith (Northcliffe) and Beijing Olympic gold medallist Ken Wallace (Tugun) who will have a tough time against two-time Australian single ski champion Lachlan Tame (Avoca).

Throw in three-time World Ironman champion and last week’s National Teams single ski winner Shannon Eckstein (Northcliffe) and emerging star Sam Speer (Manly) and it promises to be one of the races of the Rescue 2012 World Life Saving Championships.
 
The women’s ski final also throws up a great duel between reigning and two-time National champion, London 2012 Olympian Naomi Flood (Manly) and 2008 Olympic bronze medallist and 2012 Olympian Hannah Davis (Glenelg) up against New Zealand’s K1200 London Olympic gold medallist Lisa Carrington (Mt Maunguani).
 
Other finals to be decided today will be the Youth Men’s and Women’s single ski; the Open and Youth Men’s and Women’s board and the Open and Youth Men’s and Women’s rescue-board-rescue.

ABOUT RESCUE 2012
Rescue 2012 will be held in Adelaide, South Australia, from November 7-18, 2012 and will include five separate competitions - World National Team Championships, World Interclub Championships, World Masters Championships, World Surf Boat Championships, and World Inflatable Rescue Boat Championships.

Rescue 2012 is open to all proficient lifesavers. The Masters competition is open to all proficient lifesavers who are 30 years of age or above.

Athletes can compete in nine separate disciplines - swimming, simulated emergency rescue, Ironman / Ironwoman, surf-ski, board, beach sprints, beach flags, surf boats and IRB.

Beach, National Teams and all IRB events will be held at Glenelg Beach.

Christies Beach will be the home of all Masters, Interclub and Surf Boat events.

The South Australian State Aquatic and Leisure Centre will host all Pool events.
