NATIONAL TALENT ACADEMY GRADUATION/TRANSITION GUIDELINES

The overall aim of the NTA program is to ensure continued improvement and to “graduate” athletes into SIS/SAS and/or National Performance Centre programs through the process of race performance and/or gaining a higher Athlete Categorisation Nomination. The following guidelines will assist in determining when an NTA athlete is either “graduated” UP or “transitioned” OUT of the NTA program.

GRADUATION

An athlete is deemed to have graduated from the NTA and progressed further up the National Athlete Pathway Framework for High Performance (NAPF-HP) when they have:

  • Achieved an athlete categorisation of Podium Potential or above or;
  • Held an athlete categorisation of Developing for 12months in an NPC and progressing or;
  • Podium at the U23 ITU World Triathlon Championships or;
  • Been selected for a FULL athlete SIS/SAS scholarship or;
  • Selected for an ITU WTS race start.

TRANSITION

An athlete will be transitioned out of the NTA if they have not demonstrated continued improvement and progression over a period of time. Discretionary criteria includes:

  • Have not progressed per their agreed Individual Athlete Program Plan (IAPP) or;
  • Held an athlete categorisation of Developing for 2 years without progression or;
  • Held an athlete categorisation of Emerging for: 2 years as an U23 without progression/3 years as a Junior without progression;
  • Breached any of the TA, HP or NTA policies and/or HP Athlete Agreement
