Aussies dominate OTU Oceania Triathlon Sprint Cup in Fiji.
Triathlon Australia, June 1, 2015: Triathlon Australia’s National Talent Academy athletes have dominated today’s OTU Oceania Triathlon Sprint Cup on Denaru Island in Fiji.
Queensland’s 2014 Youth Olympic gold medallist Brittany Dutton was victorious in the women’s race while fellow Maroon Matt Hauser from Hervey Bay, won the men’s race.
Hauser is very much on the comeback trail after missing the Youth Olympics through injury.
Dutton defeated former Australian open water swimming representative and Luke Harrop Memorial winner, Gold Coaster Danielle De Francesco while New Zealander Katherine Badham took the bronze.
Hauser proved too strong in an all-Australian finish in the men’s race to defeat graduating NTA athlete Matt Baker with Luke Willian third and Marcel Walkington fourth.
Dutton, Hauser and Willian have all been selected on the Triathlon Australian Junior team for this year’s ITU World Championships in Chicago in September.
