Triathlon ITU March 18, 2016: – IRONMAN today announced that Jewel, a luxurious property development being built on Australia’s beautiful Gold Coast, has become the title sponsor of the ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast. The Dalian Wanda Group, which acquired IRONMAN last November, has formed a partnership with the Ridong Group to create Jewel – the largest hotel and apartment complex in Australia. The ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast event, owned and operated by IRONMAN, will bring together the world’s best triathletes and is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2016.

“This is a significant agreement for our organization as it brings together various units of the Wanda Group to collaborate and create value for each other, which is a truly exciting prospect,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for IRONMAN. “This partnership will provide a global platform for Jewel to take their luxury development to the world, as Queensland showcases the beauty of the Gold Coast at an ITU event in the years leading up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.”

Lucas Wilson, Director of Sales for Jewel, is thrilled with the partnership, stating that it further reinforces their lifelong commitment to making Jewel one of the most alluring destinations in the world for international tourists. “As the Jewel development takes shape, it will invigorate and build this city even further, positioning the Gold Coast on the world's stage as an unrivalled destination for both playing and staying,” Mr. Wilson said. “The Gold Coast’s international reputation as a premier lifestyle destination and Queensland’s experience hosting major international sporting events, such as the prestigious ITU World Triathlon Gold Coast, has resulted in this compelling partnership.”

The Jewel development is the first luxury and integrated living development for Wanda outside of mainland China. The property will house Jewel's luxury hotel brand Wanda Vista, which will offer domestic and international visitors coming to the Gold Coast the chance to stay in flawlessly-appointed suites; to enjoy the finest beachfront dining at any one of Jewel's signature restaurants; and to shop exclusive high-end designers in its ground-floor retail space, while enjoying unprecedented beachfront access to the city's world famous sand and surf.

“It’s great to see triathlon attracting major entities such as Jewel; I congratulate everyone at World Triathlon Series Gold Coast for their work on this contract,” said ITUPresident MarisolCasado. “We look forward to working with Jewel over the next several years, including when the stunning beach city will host athletes and their teams at the World Triathlon Grand Final in 2018.”
