AUSTRALIAN SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY RACING SUSPENEDED

TRIATHLON, February 19: Due to the volatile weather conditions ALL racing has been suspended today for the junior and elite Sprint Championships and Cycling Grand Prix set down for tonight.

Wind gusts of up to 98kph have been recorded at the airport and not expected to subside. USM EVENTS in consultation with all coaches, officials and authorities have deemed the conditions too dangerous and taken the only course of action in cancelling the remaining program for Saturday.

Today's racing will be incorporated into tomorrow's program. Another update will be posted on the website at 3pm regarding this revised scheduling of races.

In relation to the swim leg of the triathlon events tomorrow there is a strong likelihood that this will be held, after swim events were cancelled today due to poor water quality. Based on current weather forecasts there is no rain predicted and if this remains in place then the swim leg will proceed.

In the unlikely circumstances that it was suspended the Age Group race would then become a duathlon and the 1.5km swim would be replaced with a 1.5km run.
