SHINING SUCCESS FOR LOCAL CLUBS

March 9: Sunshine Coast clubs are continuing to dominate the firstday of Surf Life Saving Queensland's Junior State Championships at Maroochydore today.

The host club has started the carnival well, with five gold medals already in its possession. Maroochydore's winning teams have been in the U11 female board relay, U13 female Cameron relay, U14 female board relay, U14 male Cameron relay and U14 male board relay.

Other Sunshine Coast clubs to strike gold on day one of the championships have been Sunshine Beach (U11 female Cameron Relay, U11 male board relay), Bribie Island (U12 female beach relay) and Mooloolaba (U14 female Cameron relay).

Gold Coast clubs are not letting them have their own way, with Northcliffe winning gold in the U13 male Cameron relay and board relay, Currumbin sprinting to the U11 male beach relay gold medal and Burleigh Heads Mowbray Park taking out the U13 female board relay.

Multiple gold medal winners include Northcliffe U13 competitors Bailey Armstrong and Toby Redler and Maroochydore U14s Matthew Barclay and Rhys Wolfendan.

Competition at Maroochydore will continue until Sunday.
