THE GENERATIONS TO BATTLE IT OUT IN IRONMAN FINAL

March 18, 2012: Ironman great Trevor Hendy has continued his successful surf lifesaving comeback, qualifying for this afternoon's final at the Crazy John's Queensland State Championships at Kurrawa.

Hendy, aged 43 and returning to competition after more than a decade, won his semi-final this morning.

The six-time Australian champion fron Surfers Paradise will face the likes of Shannon Eckstein, Ky Hurst and Pierce Leonard, all multiple Australian title winners, in the final.

Northcliffe's Tate Smith, who this week won selection in the kayak team for the London Olympics, won the single ski final today.

Currumbin dominated  the surf boat finals, winning four finals today, including the coveted open men's gold medal.

Another star on the comeback trail, eight-time Australian beach flags champion Simon Harris, won the open flags final.

The ironman final will be held about 2.20pm this afternoon.
