The Battles Begin! Australian IRB Championships, Mindil Beach, Darwin

Surf Life Saving Australia, July 18, 2013: The 2013 Australian Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) Championships officially kick off today.

In an action-packed day of racing ahead of us, all Australian states (except Tasmania) and the Northern Territory will compete for the IRB Inter-State Title.

Team QLD remain the undefeated champions with NSW finishing a close second for the past few years running.

After last night’s eighth straight State of Origin win to the Queensland Maroons can QLD retain their winning streak or will NSW finish in front for the first time causing upset to QLD’s reign?

Competition will finish around 2:00pm.

The official results will be announced at the Presentation Ceremony this evening at approximately 6:00pm.
