AUSSIES FINALS BROUGHT FORWARD TO SATURDAY
Surf Life Saving Australia, April 19, 2017: The Australian Surf Life Saving Championship Competition Committee has confirmed today that the finals package for this year’s Championships will be conducted on Saturday, April 21, 2018 in light of poor weather conditions forecast for Sunday, April 22.
The weather is expected to deteriorate on Saturday, with strengthening winds up to 60km/hr, increasing rain activity of 15-20ml and challenging surf conditions, providing significant risk that competition events would not be held.
The SLSA will continue to monitor conditions, and will continue to consult with athletes, coaches, safety experts, team managers, Council, Police and Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).
March Past and any remaining events will be conducted on Sunday weather permitting.
The SLSA wishes to thank the athletes, team managers, Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club, City of Stirling, Police and the BOM for their input, feedback and support of this decision.
