WA duo Jackson Symonds and Jade Mickle join stars of surf and sand at 2018 Aussies

slsa logo 2014Surf Life Saving Australia, April 13, 2017: Sorrento’s three-time Australian Open Beach Sprint Champion Jackson Symonds and City of Perth’s Ironwoman star Jade Mickle will join the stars of surf and sand at Tuesday’s official Press Conference to launch this year’s nine-day Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, which start tomorrow with the Youth Championships at Scarborough Beach WA.

Symonds will be chasing beach sprint title number four and knows that the challengers will be coming thick and fast, especially from another local star and former National champion Tom Nolan.

Mickle was unstoppable at this year’s WA State titles – winning five open gold medals in the open Ironwoman, surf race, board and ski races and with the City of Perth Open Surf Teams.

Two of her main opponents will be reigning World Champion Harriet Brown (Northcliffe) and NSW champion and the winner of seven NSW State titles this year, Newport’s Georgia Miller.

The year’s two leading ironmen, Nutri-Grain champion Matt Bevilacqua (Kurrawa) and runner-up and 5-time Coolangatta Gold champion Ali Day (Surfers Paradise) will be among the favourites for this year’s coveted Australian Ironman crown.
