SWELL TIME DOWN AT CURRUMBIN
Weird and wonderful sculptures from what appears to be a startling giant coloured jellyfish at The Alley's famous rock landmark to a drover, two large feet and a dune buggy will greet visitors to the popular Gold Coast spot over the next week.
The rock coverage is part of the Swell Kids' Program, which invited NSW artist Lynne Adams and 960 school children from the Currumbin Primary School to work together on a community sculpture.
Making fun of a serious issue, consumerism and waste, the children have learnt to hand cut more than 5,000 PET (polyethylene terephthalate) carbonated drinks bottles into flowers.
For the seventh year, the Swell Sculpture Festival, set between two major iconic headlands, will transform the seaside setting to an outdoor gallery.
Artists from around Australia and the world have installed 52 sculptures for the free open-air exhibition where visitors can soak up the sculpture until September 20.
