CHANGES TO WHEREIS® AUSTRALIAN SURF LIFE SAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS PROGRAM

aussies 10 logo.jpgMarch 19: Due to programming and testing conditions faced at Kurrawa, the organising committee has revised the program and locations for today's events for Under-17 water competitors.

All water events for U17 competitors will be relocated to North Kirra today, with events to commence at 12.00 noon.

Currently the Open Female Surf Boats, U23 Female Surf Boats, U19 Male Surf Boats, Surf Boat Relay, U15 water competitors and R&R competitions are under way at North Kirra.

All other water and beach events are being held at Kurrawa as per the event program.

Surf Life Saving Australia's General Manager of Sport, Grant Baldock, said after assessing conditions again this morning, moving the U17 water events was deemed necessary.

"The safety of the competitors remains paramount, and this will be the priority for us as we move throughout the carnival,"he said.

"After reassessing conditions this morning, the Carnival Committee believes that to get through the program of events, as well as ensure the safety of competitors, the move of the U17 water events to North Kirra is the right move.

"Carnival organisers are monitoring the situation around the clock and we are committed to providing the most accurate information to competitors, officials and spectators as soon as it is available.

"At this stage we have not made any further decisions as to the location of Saturday's events," Baldock said.

To assist competitors, officials, the media and the public, organisers will post the latest information on the website www.aussiechamps.com.au, including the latest information on the carnival venue and weather forecast.
