FUNERAL SERVICE FOR SAXON BIRD

March 24: A service to honour the life of champion Queenscliff Ironman Saxon Bird will be held at his old school, St Patrick's College, Strathfield on Friday, March 26 at 10.30am.

Bird, 19, lost his life in a tragic accident while competing in the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Kurrawa last Friday.

Following the service the Bird family will attend a private burial for the NSW under 19 Ironman champion and Sydney Northern-Beaches Branch team representative.

The family has also requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Queenscliff SLSC where Saxon first joined as a Nipper at age eight.

The club will also hold a special memorial service for all Sydney Northern Beaches clubs and friends. (Details to be announced in coming weeks.)
