Inflicting the pain was Northcliffe Ironwoman and budding beauty therapist Courtney Hancock.

New-age Ironmen Eckstein and Hill received some impromptu body waxing a light massage, a manicure, a foot spa and facial to hone their bodies for the sport's gruelling test of the toughest.

"Cory is always up for a leg wax.....when I was doing my course I needed a guinea pig...and he was happy to put his best leg forward to help me out," said Hancock, who will also be one of the main challengers for Alicia Marriott's 30km women's crown.

Eckstein will start favourite to win his fourth Coolangatta Gold crown and admits he loves a good massage in the countdown to the race.

"I have also booked in for a massage this afternoon, it is all part and parcel of preparing for the big race," said Eckstein, who will have brother Shannon in his corner on race day.
