Eckstein showed all his skills in tricky one-metre conditions to hold off four-time champion Ky Hurst with brother and four-time Coolangatta Gold winner Caine Eckstein in third.

Courtney Hancock and Tanyn Lyndon made it three out of four Northcliffe victories in the major Ironman and Ironwoman events.

The former Sawtell junior, Hancock won her first Australian Ironwoman championship after former Australian Commonwealth Games swim star Rebecca Creedy (Metropolitan Caloundra) lost control of her board on the final leg.

Creedy's mishap allowed fellow Northcliffe competitor, Liz Pluimers to come through to take second with Creedy recovering to take third.

In the under 19 Ironman, former Lennox Heads junior Tanyn Lyndon showed why he will be one to watch for the future with a brilliant win to take the Saxon Bird Perpetual Trophy ahead of fast finishing Currumbin Beach Viking Jackson Maynard and never-say-die Noosa Heads' Mitch Miller.

The under 19 Ironwoman title went to Terrigal's dynamo Amy Nurthen who produced a dominant final board leg to beat Manly's Devon Halligan and Madison Prior from Warilla Barrack Point.
